What exactly does staff do? Why does VSU need such and such?
You've found the right page to answer your question. VSU runs a lot of events and programs and because of this, the organization has a large staff. Each staff and his or her position plays a critical role in the smooth operation of VSU. When one person is missing, it affects the whole organization as a whole and slows everything down. Being on staff is a big responsibility but is not without its own benefits and incentives. Being a staff member means that you'll develop a sense of responsibility, leadership, communication skills, and a close knit family that you'll be friends with long after you graduate among so many other things.
What is this is A-Board, E-Board?
As you can clearly see, I don't know myself...TELL ME DANIEL!
Is SEA CLEAR and HOPE something that's completely separated from VSU?
Simple answer. No. Elaborated answer, they are VSU's projects that are established to help our community. While the projects may focus on the Vietnamese communities, the help also extends towards South East Asians because after all, we all face the same struggles and challenges and are intertwined. But while the projects do have specializations mentioned before, the help is not exclusive and the projects work with students of all backgrounds. HOPE is committed to help students attain higher education while SEA CLEAR focuses on retaining those students who have attained higher education here at UCLA. Both HOPE and SEA CLEAR staff ARE a part of VSU staff.

Name: Timmy Luong
Positions: VSU Fiscal Officer
Staff Description: What does the Fiscal Officer do...hmmmm. MANY FUN things! The main duties of the Fiscal Officer is to assist in the coordination of fundraisers, budget proposals, issue reimbursements, and managing VSU's financial assets to make sure we stay on budget throughout the year. Fundraisers are held throughout the year, such as summer car washes, garage sales, food sales, restaurant socials, and TV tapings...etc. I also assist other staff members of VSU to prepare their budget proposals and submit them to UCLA for funding. VSU holds many programs throughout the year, and fundraising alone can not support these programs without funding from UCLA. In order to obtain the funding, we have to submit a budget proposal by a certain deadlines and attend a budget hearing after that. People who buy things for VSU events and programs will then get reimbursed with the money that we acquired through fundraising and funding from UCLA. ALTHOUGH! not everything can be reimbursed, because there a certain guidelines to what can and can not be reimbursed. Besides all that, you get to collect money from people and write checks and stuff. It's a pretty cool job, but what makes it even cooler is that you get to work with friends who themselves are doing amazing jobs. It's that team work through the hardships of creating something special that makes it all worth it. Feel free to contact me!

Name: Brian Ly
Positions: VSU Webhistorian
Staff Description: If it weren't for the webhistorian, you wouldn't be reading this. Nor would you ever receive those weekly VSU e-mails that updates you on all the happenings of VSU. Besides that, I also organize all the pictures that captures pieces of VSU events. But the "historian" in webhistorian has more meaning than just keeping pictures of you and me. I'm responsible for documenting VSU history that extends beyond the current staff's memories. That is why one of my biggest projects right now is compiling a list of alumni and all those who have kept VSU alive throughout its more than 30 years of existence. Writing down what these alumni have been through is something I will work on in the near future. So don't worry, you'll see a page dedicated to VSU's rich, diverse, and unique history.
